It’s here…..Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month! There are so many fun and unique ways to get involved in sharing the word about MG. I truly hope you decide to participate. MG Awareness Month isn’t just for people with Myasthenia Gravis, but their caregivers, family and friends can get involved, as well. In our family, we try to make it a family event. Although we’re scattered around the U.S., it’s something that brings us together and working toward a common goal. I can’t tell you how blessed and thankful I am that my family gets involved.
Before we go any further, there’s two events I want to make you aware of that I think you’ll find really interesting. Both involve major illuminations of well-known sites that will help us kick off MG Awareness Month. This is going to be amazing, so you won’t want to miss either of them!
TONIGHT!!!!! – June 1
Niagara Falls will be illuminated in teal for MG Awareness tonight (June 1) beginning at 10:30 PM Eastern Time. You can watch it at: https://www.earthcam.com/canada/niagarafalls/?cam=niagarafalls_str#google_vignette
TOMORROW NIGHT!!!!! – June 2
The CN Tower in Los Angeles will be illuminated in teal after sunset. Sunset is scheduled for 7:49 PM Pacific Time, so anytime after that on June 2 you should be able to view it at: https://www.cntower.ca/live-views
Speaking of getting involved, have you downloaded your MG Awareness Month Toolkit yet? If not, you can find it here: https://myasthenia.org/mg-awareness-month-resources/awareness-resources/
This toolkit will provide you with a host of ideas to help you get involved during MG Awareness Month.
I talk a lot about the best therapy for anyone with MG is to find a way to help others. Your participation in MG Awareness Month does just that. So many people have no clue about what Myasthenia Gravis does or how it affects people. Getting involved in increasing awareness helps rectify this, as well as encourages support for people who have it. It can also help educate people about the importance of funding MG research and treatments. Best of all, getting involved helps you refocus your mind. Instead of focusing on your struggles with MG, you start looking for ways to help others.
Get involved. I think you’ll be amazed how fun it can be and how much your efforts can help.
