When You Struggle

All of us struggle from time to time with our situation. We worry about everything. Maybe it’s health, maybe it’s family, maybe it’s money. Whatever it is, we are feeling the burden. That’s hard to pull out of on your own.

Having Myasthenia Gravis can definitely cause you to struggle. Not only are you struggling with the physical challenges taxed by this annoying disease, but it brings mental challenges as well. Why do I have this? What’s going to happen to me? Am I going to be okay?

I recently saw a prayer that went like this:

Dear God: I don’t have to know every detail of tomorrow to trust you today. You are the one who sees beyond time, who holds both the question and the answer. I walk forward not with fear, but with faith in your divine direction. My life is not a random journey…it’s a calling under your hand. Amen

There’s nothing I could better say than what this prayer already says.

When we struggle, we need only to trust in God. He already knows about our struggles even before we realize we’re struggling. And He knows how to fix it. He requires only one thing….faith. Faith in Him as our Lord and Savior. He is the only one who can fix our struggles, and He will if we remember to go to Him.

That doesn’t mean He will completely take away our struggles for good. It simply means He will help us in our time of need. That’s why we need to say, “I walk forward not with fear, but with faith in your divine direction.”

Our lives are not random events or a random journey. It’s our calling under His hand. We may never understand why, but instead of struggling with that question, we should find comfort in the fact that He is right there beside us, walking this journey with us.

Maybe MG was written into my journey because I needed to get stronger in my faith. I’ve always been faithful, but perhaps I needed to get closer to God. It’s doing just that. I can feel myself gravitating towards Him and now I’m sharing Him with all of you.

Religion and politics are two subjects I used to avoid discussing in my blogs. I’ll continue to avoid them; politics in general and religion in terms of affiliation. I will, however, share my faith in God our Creator. He is the one that has my hand as I walk this journey and He is the one that prevents me from worrying about tomorrow by trusting in Him today.

When you struggle, turn towards your faith, not away from it. You can’t do it on your own. You can’t handle all the challenges Myasthenia Gravis will bring by yourself, but God will stand with you and He is stronger and mightier than MG or any other struggle. That’s who I want on my side. That’s who I want on your side.
